The Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) in collaboration with the Deutsche
Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH to initiate this project to develop the
Ghana Insurance Practice Reference Manual (GIPRM) as part of their Defend and Growth
Strategic initiative. The aim of this project was to enhance technical understanding, standardize
insurance business procedures for the Ghanaian Insurance Industry. MGA Consulting was
contracted to execute this project.

The project commenced with a stakeholder engagement which consisted of representatives from
GIZ., CIIG and MGA Consulting. This session was to formally introduce the project and enable
the Consultant to understand the expectation of the assignment, agree on the specific scope of
work, and review project deliverables.

The reference manual consists of thirteen (13) chapters covering the areas of general, life, health
and pensions practice in the Ghanaian insurance industry. The GIPRM will serve as a tool to
enhance integrity and professionalism in the industry. After the completion of the first draft of
the manual, a final stakeholder session was organized to review the manual and solicit for final
inputs and comments.

This report consists of: an introduction, the stakeholder engagements held, development of the book, a review of the book, challenges encountered, recommendations, and lessons learnt.
