On Tuesday in Miotso, I led CIMG to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Central University, formalizing their participation in the Chartered Marketing Programme.
During the engagement, the University leadership shared their vision and commitment to strengthening the link between academic learning and professional practice.
In the engagement, there was a shared recognition of a persistent gap. Graduates left with knowledge, yet many were still not fully prepared for the demands of the market. This was not a question of effort. It reflected how the system had been structured, with theory and practice treated as separate phases.
In my remarks, I emphasized that we are all in service to our country. Marketing underpins much of what we do across business, academia, and public institutions. If we are to build a competitive economy, then we must be deliberate about how we develop the next generation of professionals.
As part of this partnership, Central University has offered adjunct lecturer roles to CIMG professional members, a practical step to bridge the industry–academia gap by bringing practitioners into the classroom to develop market-ready skills.
Through this collaboration, CIMG will continue to promote marketing excellence, while Central University plays a critical role in developing professionals who can contribute meaningfully to national development.
We are pleased to begin this journey together and look forward to a partnership defined not just by agreement, but by execution.
